When selecting the detergents/disinfectants, care must be taken to ensure that products do not attack plasticisers as this would lead to seals used becoming brittle. If there are components made of aluminium or anodised aluminium, steps must be taken to ensure that the detergent/disinfectant is suitable for aluminium and that a pH < 11 is ensured in the wash liquor.

The general mechanical reprocessing of motor systems is not possible. Today, manufacturer-specific solutions are offered for most new motor systems. For older systems, however, machine reprocessing is often not possible. In general, care must be taken to ensure that reprocessing always follows the manufacturer's instructions.

Compressed air can be used to blow dry the surfaces of motor systems. However, care must be taken to ensure that compressed air is never aimed at bearing seats, i.e. areas from which rotating or other moving parts protrude must not be blown dry with compressed air. There is a risk that the highly concentrated pressure could damage seals and/or force liquid into the machine interior.

In general, make sure that sterilisation procedures approved by the manufacturer are used. This is usually the fractioned vacuum process at 134°C / 2 bar and 5 minutes minimum holding time. If a programme with an extended holding time, e.g. 18 minutes, is to be run, the instructions for use or the respective machine manufacturer should always be consulted in advance.
